Welcome to Play With Technology, the technological development roadmap of Jesse McKinney.

The portfolio tiles below demonstrate some of my favorite technological development successes. Clicking on those tile will take you to a curated explanation of that project within the larger roadmap.

However, If you have time I suggest you also do some exploring of the full roadmap on your own. To do so, simply click on any node in the 3D experience that looks interesting to activate it. Once inside a node, you to drill deeper into a project's details by clicking areas of interest. If at any time you feel lost, hovering over the Play With Technology logo in the upper left corner of the screen will allow you to access the help system, project search, and info pages. Clicking on the Play With Technology logo will reset the experience back to default. To return to the portfolio experience at any time, simply click on its tab to the right of the screen to expand it.

Play With Technology

Welcome,

This website houses the master technology development roadmap of Jesse McKinney. It currently contains 431 unique technology concepts housed in 126 distinct project nodes. Clicking on any of the project nodes will bring up what details I have made public about that project to date. About half the projects in the roadmap were created to address the challenges I faced alongside my host community as a United States Peace Corps volunteer living in a remote village of Madagascar from 2012-2014. It was digging out alongside my community after every disaster, and realizing the opportunities for robotics and other high-tech solutions to address the challenges faced by rural, remote, and underserved areas of the world, that motivated this lifelong career path. Many more technology systems have been conceptualized over the subsequent years, as new experiences revealed new challenges to this planet and the cultures and societies that call it home. The connection lines between nodes in the roadmap indicate dependency. As time radiates outwards from the center of the map, the completion of projects and technologies slowly begins to weave much more powerful systems with greater potential to address challenges to this planet and the societies that share it. My drive in life is to explore, develop, and grow this technology ecosystem of change, and through my play with technology see where this roadmap truly can lead.

---Important Update---

June 2024 - This site is undergoing a major overhaul! It is expected to take a few months. Some functionality in the 3D project exploration interface, such as the 3D interactive scenerios, timeline, and tech trees for each project will be offline due to database and 3D asset rebuilding. The portfolio view will be less affected by these changes as its mainly text-driven. When complete, Play With Technology will relaunch as a fully interactive demonstration of my technologies. The upgrades will combine the latest in web-based extended reality, artificial intelligence, and real-time simulation to bring fully functional and interactive virtual versions of my technology out of the screen, and into your real-world environment. Best of all, no special hardware or software download will be needed. Simply visiting the website using most smartphones, tablets, or other XR capable devices is all that will be required. Though a ton of work and highly experimental, I feel the pay off is going to be worth it. When completed, this upgrade will allow you to more completely understand my technologies and broader technological vision than can be done with a screen-based method.
